update

Cool take on the classic chukka boot, the fringe adds a little bit of a bohemian feel to the boot.  In a way its a little Isabel Marant.

"By the time I graduated from high school, I had a girlfriend from Ohio. She was blonde, a tennis star, and going to Colgate. I would drive her around in a Landrover and wear clothing with embroidery. I still have all the ribbon belts to prove it."

J. Crew Sping 10

Yep, I want it all.  I think I need to start a bank account just for this store, but how can you not want to buy all of it when they style it so perfectly!

What to wear: Punk Rock Business

Recently a friend asked me for some advice.  What does one wear for a trip to Los Angeles, shorts and tees come to mind right? But this trip is involving a business meeting that's professional yet punk rock.  Plus there are after meeting activities at a club.  First and foremost I feel that no matter what business, even if they say dress casual, you should always dress less casual than more.  Sure its a punk rock affair, but dont pull out your motorcycle jacket just yet.  Get your foot in the door let them know you connect with the company through your dress, but don't do it in a blatant way.  Here are the key pieces I would recommend for my friend.

1.  Blazer- Sure its not as edgy as a motorcycle jacket, but blazers come in all cuts and with subtle embellishments.
2.  Embelished top-  I don't mean sequins! buy a blouse that has studded details or just a cool girl cut, since your doing the blazer maybe even do a studded black tee underneath to offset the structured look of the jacket.
3.  NO JEANS! No matter how appropriate they might seem. Do a black skinny pant or even a skirt with black tights.
4. Shoes- Have fun! but not too much fun. Go as simple as a pair of black flats or as cool as a pair of motorcycle ankle boots.
5. Jewelry- go subtle punk, take inspiration from Kate Lanphear with her studded bracelets.
6. Make sure its you! If you're not comfortable your bosses will tell!
